Hard working woman, degreed in a male dominated field, currently unemployed, due to the ways of Corporate America.  I wish to start my own business and escape the trappings and manipulations of what I have seen within Corporate America.  I have been laid off twice due to corporate layoffs, the first time for over 8 months and this time for over a year, and my funds are tapped out.  I need immediate cash flow to maintain a place to live and utilities as well as a small amount of funding, approximately $40,000 to go to the Women's Development Center and get additional funding to open my own business.  My business plan is complete, but I have been told that it will take approximately 3 months to get funding, once I have my portion of funding available.  Even though I do not currently have the funding, I am looking for the correct commercial property to lease on which to put my business.  With the right location(s) my business has the potential to make a half a million dollars per year (per location.)

I put myself through college while raising a child totally on my own.   I started college at the age of 28 and completed a 4 year engineering degree in 3 years because I was very determined to be self supportive.  I have always been very independent and ascertive in my desires, which probably explains how I got this far on my own.  Unfortunately, most of Corporate America is still very male dominated, and women like myself tend to make the "good old boys" slightly uncomfortable.
